Central Victorian Greenhouse Alliance (CVGA) takes C500 to Ararat and Kyabram

Kyabram and Ararat are the next towns in CVGA’s region to reduce their household energy consumption. With funding from the Department of Sustainability and the Environment, newly employed facilitators Jane Marriott (Ararat) and Lisa Hawken (Kyabram) will use the lessons learnt from the Castlemaine500 project to work within their own towns to create excitement and enthusiasm for energy use reductions.

They have started to plan their engagement with the towns and soon will be providing opportunities for residents to have conversations about reducing their household energy use. As with Castlemaine500, practical information, a sharing of wisdom, fun, and a chance to talk with others on the journey to reducing their energy consumption will all be part of the deal.

The two councils – Ararat Rural City Council and Campaspe Shire Council – have been very supportive.

Other communities in the Central Victorian Greenhouse Alliance region are also keen to take up the challenge and CVGA will be seeking further funding ASAP!
