A Castlemaine Network forms to keep C500 alive well into the future …

Castlemaine has built an enviable reputation. Across Castlemaine, people from all walks of life are working together to tackle climate change in new and creative ways. Castlemaine 500 is contributing to the great work that is already taking place.

Castlemaine 500 is working to leave behind a legacy … something that supports climate change activity happening in Castlemaine households for years to come.

In August, C500 initiated the formation of a local Community Network made up of passionate people and groups. This Network will build on the work started by C500, learn from each other’s projects and work out new ways to tackle climate change together.

At this early stage, the C500 Network is made up of individuals and groups including the Castlemaine Community House, Mount Alexander Sustainability Group (MASG), Mount Alexander Shire Council and the Central Victorian Greenhouse Alliance.

During October, Network members enjoyed 2 days of training with Les Robinson. This Master Class in Enabling Change will equip the Castlemaine community with the skills and confidence to effect positive change and tackle climate change in new and exciting ways!

In November, the C500 Network staged its first Learning Summit with Network members plus climate change project officers and policy writers from all over Victoria. Facilitated by Curtis Riddington, from Evaluation Company Clear Horizon, the group analyzed the evaluation results collected throughout the pilot. Conclusions and recommendations were developed to assist future projects and initiatives. Despite the sweltering temperatures, a great day was experienced by all!
